island, as it was listed one of the top ten locations in the world for surfing.
During surfing season, the usually calm town of Arugam Bay is swarming with young
surfers eager to catch a good wave. With many international pro-surfing tournaments,
this beach town is soon becoming a tourist hot spot.
There many surfing points including Surf Point, Pottuvil Point, Peanut Farm point,
Ullah Point and Crocodile Rock. The numerous points can accommodate surfers with
varying skill levels, ranging from beginners all the way to pro-surfers as well.
The relatively untouched beaches of Arugam Bay, friendly locals and simple laid
back lifestyle of Arugam Bay make it an ideal retreat for surfers. Surfing season
in Arugam Bay is between the months of May and November.
